Wedding Jewelry Styles in East and West
Weddings are the special day for the brides. They want to look their best. Be it a bride in Pakistan or UK or in the USA brides everywhere want to look their best on their special day. A big part of this is the wedding jewelry. A bride without jewelry is no bride at all. The bridal jewelry is very different from everyday jewelry as it is more elaborate and special. The wedding jewelry styles differ in different parts of the world. In the South Asian countries the wedding jewelry is very elaborate.
The brides are not happy unless they are adorned from head to toe in jewels. The wedding jewelry worn by South Asian brides especially in Pakistan and India include a heavy necklace usually made up of yellow gold with the beads or the stones matching the dress colour. Other than that head ornaments, large earrings, bangles, anklets, rings, nose pin etc. are all used to beautify the bride. The stones in the wedding jewelry can be precious semi-precious or non-precious depending upon the economic condition of the family. If the bride is not wearing extensive jewelry on her wedding day it is considered a bad omen by superstitious people and even may lead to a shame for the bride and her family.
The bridal jewelry in the western system is quite different from the eastern side. The western brides keep their wedding jewelry very light and its mostly white gold or platinum which compliments their usually white dress. The jewelry includes pendants, small earrings, hair combs etc. But the most important aspect of the western wedding jewelry is the wedding bands which the bride and groom exchange without which the ceremony is considered incomplete. Thus the wedding jewelry styles of east and west are very different from each other.
