Tissues of The Human Body and Their Classifications

Posted by fabiogabriell on July 2, 2012 in News

All the organisms are made up of cells which are the basic functional and structural unit. A group of such smallest unit of life, performing similar functions is called the tissue. The studies on living cells were performed from decades back but the final theory were developed in 1835.Among all other living tissue, the most delegate and complex is the tissues of the human body. The human tissue includes cells and surrounding matter that function together for performing a specific job. These tissues combine together to form an organ with either same type or different type of tissues.

The tissues of the human body are classified in to four types which are epithelial tissue, connective tissue, muscular tissue and nervous tissue. The epithelial tissue is a continuous sheet of cells which covers the surface of the organs. These tissues are commonly seen in the surface of skin, inner portion of intestine and in reproductive tract. It is semi permeable in nature and performs a protective function.

The fibrous connective tissue gives shape and position to the organ. It is made of extra cellular matrix and helps in binding other tissues for example bones, blood etc. The contractile muscle tissue helps in movement of organs or the body. It has three distinct categories according to the functional areas. The nervous system is made of highly specialized nerve cells which form the brain, spinal cord, cranial nerves and neurons.

The body structure is made up of multiple types of tissues which vary according to their functions. The highly complex tissues in the human body resulted in a perfect body functioning. Most of the internal organs are made of soft tissues which are highly sensitive to perform their function. All the living and non living organisms’ posses a complex level of tissue makeup which gives them the shape and structure.
