Mammals are group of vertebrate, warm blooded organism of animal class. They forms mammalia kingdom. Mammals are called as vertebrates due to the presence of spinal cords. Also there are organisms other than mammals, with spinal cord. They are fishes, amphibians and reptiles. Human beings also come under mammal trait. The name mammal arises due to the presence of mammary glands in them. With the help of mammary glands, mammals can reproduce to form their young ones. Only female mammals have this capability to create young ones. Some will give birth and the others lay eggs. Even if some female mammals won’t give birth but lay eggs to create their young ones, they feed their babies by secreting milk from their body with the help of mammary glands. Mammals have lungs for efficient respiration. They have hair or fur on its body. But there are some mammals without a single hair. Whales and dolphins are of that category without a single hair. Mammals have cell tissues for better cell protection.

We can see mammals in all parts of the world; their warm blooded nature makes them to survive in all climatic conditions by maintaining a constant temperature inside their body. If the atmospheric temperature is very high, mammals emit heat into the atmosphere with the help of sweat glands. There are about 5000 species of mammals. Millions of mammal types are included in that. Out of that about 38 species are endangered. If we do some research on internet, we can discover a wide variety of mammal information for kids. It is very much helpful for them to discover new things and for their academic purposes.
