Decking Paint Colours: To Paint or To Stain

Before we start debating whether it would be best to stain or paint your deck, you should make sure that your deck is made of wood.  It may sound silly but most people did not realize that some of the decks now are made of metal and choosing decking paint colours is not really that troublesome.  If you have a metallic deck, all you have to do is make sure that its colours will match the color of your house.  Unlike wood, you really cannot make a metallic deck mimic its surrounding, so as long as the color is the same or complimentary to your house everything will be fine. Now, if you have a wooden deck, choosing some decking paint colours would need some evaluation since you can always make your deck mingle with your surroundings.  In the event that you want your deck to look like it is one with your garden then stain your deck would be a great idea.  Two primer coating can make your deck withstand the harsh elements.  Rain, snow and sunlight can damage your deck overtime.  What is commonly done so can avoid your deck being deteriorated overtime is to have it pressure washed to make sure that mildew posts and dead fibers will be removed.

Staining can also protect your deck from UV rays.  But, if the natural color of your deck does not match the surrounding then you have to choose decking paint colours that could at least mimic the environment.  Since you cannot enhance the natural color of the wood you can always use primers that can protect the wood even if you use paints instead of stain.  Bottom line is: you have to make sure your deck will look like it is a part of the house so it is important that you maintain or enhance its color.
