Before we start debating whether it would be best to stain or paint your deck, you should make sure that your deck is made of wood. But, if the natural color of your deck does not match the surrounding then you have to choose decking paint colours that could at least mimic the environment. Since you cannot enhance the natural color of the wood you can always use primers that can protect the wood even if you use paints instead of stain. Bottom line is: you have to make sure your deck will look like it is a part of the house so it is important that you maintain or enhance its color.
