When keeping a pot bellied pig at home as a pet you have to be more committed and careful. Unlike any other pets they need to be kept clean and in good surroundings to ensure well being. It is not so easy to take care of them just like cats and dogs. They need timely maintenance and feeding to stay calm and silent. However it is important to know some of the facts about these pigs before you start accommodating them in your homes. Pot bellied pigs generally have a long life span of 10 to 15 years. It is also a fact that once fully grown they will weigh around 135 pounds, which will not be easy for you to manage sometimes.

However the cute looks and sweetness of these pigs will some times make you keep them home as a pet. Even after knowing all the pros in keeping these pigs as pets, some animal doctors are not encouraging people to keep them. Another important thing to know about these pigs is their intelligence. After human, primates and dolphins, pigs are standing 4th in the list on the basis of intelligence. By keeping them spayed or neutered you can make your pet pig sweet matured and sensitive.
