The presence of animals that belongs to the mammal family has been recorded in almost all parts of the world. The members of this animal family is found to be living in different types of habitats such as land, deserts, forests and even in the sea. Anyways the various types of mammals found in each continent varies according to the regional and climatic conditions. There are a good number of mammals found in the African continent. These include even some of the most popular animals in Africa. African mammals have many unique features when compared to that of the animals found in several other parts of the world.

Among all mammals found in the whole continent of Africa, the African elephants are the largest and most remarkable animal. These are considered as the largest mammal found in the land. The well-developed trunks are the major physical characteristics of these giant animals. They use these as nose as well as a hand. When compared to the Asian elephants these elephants have bigger ears. It is also interesting to know that their ears resemble the map of Africa. These animals are capable of living in any region that has good availability of water and food.

Leopards are one of the other great mammals found in the African continent. Among the larger carnivore’s animals, these are the most shrewdest, mysterious and secretive. Among the cat family these are the best climbers and are very strong. Leopards are also capable for catching prey’s that are bigger than them. Their habitats mainly consist of dryer places and the deep shady forests. Some of the other common mammals found in Africa include Ant bear, vervet monkey, baboon, African lion, cheetah and giraffe. There are lot more mammals in this list. Make a comprehensive study to create a better knowledge about these organisms.
