It’s Monday Again?! Ten Ways To Make Your Monday Mornings Better

Posted by rafael on January 25, 2013 in Hobbies

The alarm clock goes off again. After a weekend of no rest, it’s back to that dreaded day again…Monday.

Monday mornings are always a drag, but there are a few ways that you can improve the first day of the week and fuel your productivity to last until Friday. Need some help? Here are ten ways to put a zing in your Monday mornings.

Sorry to Poop on the Party….

Hate to break it to you, but it helps if you don’t wake up in last night’s clothes with a throbbing headache and a foggy memory. An early Sunday night will allow you to wake up on Monday morning refreshed and ready to tackle the week.

Plan Breakfast

The best incentive to hop out of bed on a Monday morning is the thought that you have a kick-ass brekkie waiting for you. Whether it’s granola bar or something greasy that makes you froth, make sure you’ve got all your favourite ingredients and spoil yourself.

Pack the Night Before

There seems to be some merit behind the unison chants of mothers worldwide… “Pack the night before!” This way, your Monday morning will be more relaxed and you’re less likely to leave something behind at home.

Plan to Spend Your Monday Lunch Break With a Friend

Everything seems easier if you have something to look forward to. Set aside your lunch break and spend it with a close friend. Debrief about the weekend and vent about the stresses the week has in store.

Early morning yoga will increase your flexibility, wake up those stiff, uncomfortable muscles and joints and leave you feeling oxygenated and fresh. You’ll be surprised at the amount of tension you’re holding in your body, so start your week by cleansing yourself.

Wake up Half an Hour Earlier

The less you rush, the less tense you feel, the calmer and more tolerable you will be, the better your day! It’s a simple flow-on effect. Take a seat in your comfiest chair or in the backyard and read a book or watch TV for a while before you have to get stuck into the day.  If you want, browse the Internet for your dream home, or laugh at some YouTube videos. You’ll start your day on a positive note, which will flow on throughout the week.

Make a Monday Playlist

Make a playlist filled with the most upbeat songs – “Ain’t nothing gonna break my stride” by Unique II springs to mind. Crank it through the house, as you get ready and you’ll be Walkin’ on Sunshine by 9am.

“Barista, Make it a Double”

There’s no shame in tipping an extra teaspoon of instant coffee in to your cup, a strong coffee will make you feel alive again. Just don’t get too carried away or you’ll be shaking all day, and that’s a fast-track to a bad Monday!

Pick a Favourite Monday TV Show

Find a show that really speaks to you and follow it. You’ll be so excited that the next episode airs that you will forget all about the fact that Monday’s suck. If you can’t find anything, record a series, and make a gentleman’s agreement with yourself that you’ll only watch it on Mondays.

Keep it in Perspective

Don’t let the Monday stigma fool you into thinking that all Mondays will be horrible. It’s a new day! We can’t really ever completely know the future based on assumptions from the past, so keep an open mind! Next Monday might be the day you get a pay rise, or meet the love of your life, or get scouted for a hand modelling agency on the street… Get excited!
