This idea triggered his tour to New York, on the arrival he identified a small piece of farm where was he thought it would the best point to erect the statute after that, he went round America to solicit for support in this project.

After this tour Bartholdi went back to France wand founded a group called Franco-American Union to help him raise money to build the statue of liberty in New York. He delegated the duty of building the steel and iron skeleton to raise the statue up. Bartholdi was supposed to raise $400,000, this proved to be so much for Bartholdi though he kept his mobility. This statue was behind the schedule to be presented to America as proposed by De laboulaye. Although Bartholdi kept on waking, in 1884 the project of lack funds and it stopped. Pulitzer a news paper merchant decides raise money for the project which works after along time, this enhanced the completion of the statue in 1886. After 10 years the statue was officially by president Grover Cleveland for public viewing.
