Disputed Architects of Germany
Art and architecture has been changing throughout history. But what does not change is the reflection of culture in an art or architecture. With the discovery of laws of liquid, fountains were increasingly used in architectural masterpieces and are being used so till to date. One of the master pieces in fountain architecture is Fountain Carrousel Marriage of Germany. Its construction started in 1977 and faced a lot of controversy right from the first day of its inception. Construction completed in 1984 and it was inaugurated and opened for public display later that year. The Fountain Carrousel Marriage is located in Nuremberg, Germany. The fountain is located in front of the famous white tower of Nuremberg.
It depicts the married life of a couple from initial days to the death and ends in a display of the skeleton of couple trying to strangle each other. It has invited the ire and wrath of a large number of people particularly the conservative segments of society. Fountain Carrousel Marriage story was created during a writing contest and soon after that its construction began. More than the artistic demand, the fountain was designed and located at its present location to fulfill the aesthetic needs of the area which was going shabby due to the nearby station and old structures. It played its role in the uplift of the area in terms of beauty and gave a new look to the city square. Although the concept behind the fountain can be disputed, it is a bold exposure of negative facets of married life. People disputing its ethical structure object more to the nude sculptures than the message that it gives. Nevertheless the fountain attracts any visitor who comes to see Germany. It has turned the location into a tourist spot with a lot of coffee shops propping up in surroundings.
