Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception located in Mobile, Alabama, in U. S. is the church for Roman Catholics. The cathedral is considered as the realm of the Archbishop of Roman Catholic Archdiocese situated in Mobile. It is famous and named for sacred Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, based on her title, “Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception”.  The cathedral is well known for its three daily masses and the six Sunday mass programs. Moreover, it has a capacity to accommodate about 800 persons and the extra services of the church include yearly lunch provision for about 50,000-60,000 poor people. The Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception is the main worship place for about 500,000 Catholics. The cathedral functions as the central mother church and the growing faith of the people draw them towards it for holy moments. It is said that that the construction of this cathedral was started in the year 1902 and the work extended until 1911.

The cost of the cathedral construction is approximately $500,000.  On October 27 of 1912, the inaugural mass program was conducted splendidly and the consecration was held in 1921. During the Christmas of 1979, the cathedral was hoisted to position of basilica, and it is regarded as one and only church among the 29 American churches with the basilica title. Because of its high esteem, it is one of the prominent cathedrals in America.  In 1993 August 13 and 14, the great Pope John Paul II conducted mass at the cathedral and this brought good esteem and honor to the cathedral and its believers. Due to its spiritual and historical significance, thousands of people for the purgation of their soul visit the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. The renovations and restoration that held for the maintenance of the church retains its architectural beauty forever.
