Some of the Most Famous Opera Singers

With all the pop and rock dominating the top forty top hit singles charts these days, it is hard to get a good bit of classical music if you prefer that sort of thing. It seems that opera singers just cannot get a break these days. But lucky for people who like opera, there are many famous opera singers who did manage to catch a break, even when the going was tough.

One of the most famous opera singers ever had to be Pavarotti. He was a tenor and one of the biggest and best selling opera singers of all time. He began singing in 1961 in Italy and quickly found fame and made his way up the success ladder. He toured all over the world and to this day, there is barely one person in this entire world who has not either heard him sing- live or on tape- or at least heard his name. His last ever performance was at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Italy. He sadly died of pancreatic cancer in 2007, aged seventy two.

Another, recent, famous opera singer would be Paul Potts. He famously won the first ever season of Britain’s Got Talent in 2007 and so played for the Queen in the Royal Variety Show. His first album was number one is nine different countries and since 2007, he has made a name for himself through his album, songs, winning awards and touring with several other celebrity singers. Before winning the talent show he was a sales person in Carphone Warehouse, but had received a master class, in Italy, from Pavarotti and appeared several time in small operas, for which he was not paid.So, no matter how hard it is to actually get into the opera singing business, people have made it. You never know, if you’re any good you too one day could be a famous opera singer!
