Mary Astor was an actress who was popular from the teenage age itself. She had a very bad personal life in the early days but still managed to be successful in the professional life. She was a very successful actress on the screen and had won many Awards at that time. Her auto biography was very famous and later released the book ‘A Life on Film’ which was mostly about her career.

Her movie The Great Lie was an Academy Award Winner in which she was the best supporting actress. Her mother was interested in acting and supported her in learning dramas. During the school days she learned piano from her father and later this helped her in playing piano in her films. She started sending many picture to the picture magazines. Mary Astor then moved to New York with her family to try her luck in the motion picture.

Later many writers and directors approached her for their movies and she got many challenging roles. In the year 1928 she got married with Kenneth Hawks and the couples moved to Los Angeles. The Movie Industry was in the transition to talkies. Her voice was too deep and she failed in the sound test. For eight months she didn’t have work in studio. Mary Astor didn’t get new roles and during this gap she took voice training.

She started getting better role later and her work was appreciated by people. Her husband died in a plane crash and soon her personal life became difficult. She still received many roles but she was not happy with her personal life. There was a legal battle between her and her husband Dr Franklyn Thorpe for her four year old daughter. She released many books which were best sellers that said about her personal and professional life.
