David Cross – An American Actor, Writer and Stand-up Comedian

David Cross was born on 1964 in Georgia. After six months of his birth, his family shifted to Florida. Later they came back to Roswell and David spent a decade of his lifetime there. At his childhood, his family suffered from heavy money problems. So at the age of 17, he started performing stand-up comedy. Later he worked in a lawn care company in Long Island.

He got enrolled at Emerson College in Boston and there he found out his favorite hobby as partying and sketch comedy. He joined a college sketch group and started performing regularly. “Catch a Rising Star” was a famous comedy club in which he appeared regularly for several weeks. While he gave more focus to his comedy work, he got another opportunity to work at alternative comedy club “UnCabaret” in Los Angeles.

‘The Ben Stiller Show’ is a sketch comedy television series premiered on MTV and later on Fox.  David worked along with Ben and other writers to give life to this series. In 1993, David won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing in a Variety Series. Later he met Bob Odenkrik and started working in the HBO sketch comedy series, ‘Mr. Show’. In the American television sitcom, ‘Arrested Development’, he played the role of Tobias Funke. He got small roles in other television programs including ‘Just Shoot Me!’, ‘NewsRadio’, ‘Tim and Eric Awesome Show’, ‘Aqua Teen Hunger Force’ etc. In the MTV2 series, ‘Wonder Showzen’, David appeared several times.

Based on ‘Mr. Show’, he teamed up with Troy Miller and Odenkrik to make the film, ‘Run Ronnie Run’. Later he turned back into stand-up comedy performances and released three recordings which were ‘Shut Up You Fucking Baby!’, ‘It’s Not Funny’ and ‘Bigger and Blackerer’. The first one of the above comedy albums got Grammy award nomination for Best Comedy Album in 2004. Some of his notable works in Hollywood movies include ‘Alvin and the Chipmunks’ (All sequels), ‘I’m Not There’, ‘The Grand’, ‘Curious George’ etc.
