Charles Chaplin Jr the Son of Great Charlie Chaplin
Charles Chaplin, Jr. was an American actor. He was the son of great comedian Charlie Chaplin. His mother ‘Lita Grey’ was Chaplin’s second wife. He was born in California on 5th May 1925 and his nick name was Cass. Charles Chaplin studied in ‘Lawrenceville School’ in New Jersey and later he attended ‘Black Foxe Military Institute’ in Hollywood. At the time of II world war, he served in the US army. In 1958, Charles Chaplin married Susan Magness. She was also an actress and they lived in Los Angles. In May 1959, the couple was blessed with a baby girl and she was named Susan Maree Chapin. In 1959, they were divorced.
In 1952, Charles Chaplin, Jr. got a chance to appear with his father in ‘Limelight’. It was a comedy film directed, written and produced by Charlie Chaplin. ‘Limelight’ was a great success and honored at the Academy award. He also acted with his brother Sydney Chaplin. In the ‘Circle Theatre’, now named as ‘EL Centro Theatre’ they both acted together in a play ‘Ethan Frome’.
He was not only an actor but also a writer. In 1960 he wrote a book named ‘My Father, Charlie Chapin’. The book was all about his family life. He acted in 13 Hollywood films including ‘Sex Kittens Go to College’ directed by Fire Chief in 1960, ‘Girls Town’ directed by Joe Cates in 1959, ‘The Big Operator’ directed by Bill Tragg and ‘The Beat Generation’ directed by Lover Boy. In, 1954, he performed in a movie ‘Columbus Discovers Kraehwinkel’; it was a German comedy film by Alexander Pall and Ulrich Erfurth. On 20th March 1968, Charles Chaplin, Jr. died in Hollywood due to pulmonary embolism. It was due to some blood clot in lungs. With his grandmother Lillian Grey, he is buried at ‘Hollywood Forever Cemetery’.
