Famous Indian Jewelry
Indian Jewelry is one of the most famous Jewelry in the world. People residing in European and South Asian countries are attracted desperately towards it. I think Indians have promoted their culture so well in other countries that most of the people in countries other than India recognize it so well.
India is the largest market for gold Jewelry in the world, representing a staggering 746 tons of gold in 2010. Indian consumers are actively engaged in considering their next piece, 75% of women say they are constantly searching for new designs. Whilst over 50% of Jewelry is bought for weddings, the wedding anniversary has now become the most inspirational occasion for receiving Jewelry today, extending a couple’s relationship with Jewelry beyond the marriage ceremony.
One of the reasons why Indian Jewelry is so popular in India and other countries is its historical perspective. Ancient history tells Jewelry such earrings, necklaces and bangles etc were worn by the queens of Mughal and Akbar Empire of Indian sub-continent. All those empires that were in power had gifted their queens with bunch of jewelries which inspired the locals and also transferred Indian culture outside of the Indian sub-continent. In Mughal era of Indian history some of these stone studded jewelry items are preserved in London Museum. In Indian society jewelry items are often considered as a token of love, respect, devotion, acceptance, and social commitment.
Although temple type and floral designs are the common designs for Indian ornaments but these days credit goes to advanced use of digital technology some graphical shapes are being introduced in Indian jewelry patterns. The early ornaments patterns were deeply motivated by the symmetry and diversity of twigs, flowers, leaves, artistic beauty of vines. Till date jewelry designers of India often create natural and floral designs to complement attires and dressings. Hand crafted Indian ornaments are artistic and radiates excellent cultural elegance.
